Meet the Neighbors: Why We Live Here

“When my husband and I were growing up kids stayed out till the street lights came on, everyone knew their neighbors and people helped each other.  When we had our daughter we wanted her to grow up in the same environment.  What we found were people that didn’t answer their door or talk to each other. Nobody knew their neighbors and kids played in their own homes.  We lived in nice neighborhoods but it felt very isolating.  We moved three times but didn’t find what we were looking for until we found Tehaleh.”

“Tehaleh isn’t just a neighborhood, it’s a community.  This distinction makes all the difference in the world. We were searching for a place to live and visited Tehaleh.  Our daughter wanted to play at the park so we stopped.  We found a balloon maker, a truck making cocoa and donuts for the kids and even people without kids coming out to enjoy the festivities.  Everyone knew each other. Everyone was so nice. When we asked, we found out that The Post puts these events on to help foster that community spirit.  My husband and I looked at each other and knew we had finally found what we were looking for, community.  We have already met seven of our neighbors and a dozen kids that live in the neighborhood and our house isn’t even built yet.  People come out to say ‘hi’ and welcome us to the neighborhood.”   – The Bowers
