When Markus Met Merry

When Markus Met Merry

“Meeting Merry was like nothing I had ever felt before,” said Markus Kamp. “I was like, ‘Oh, this is what
people write about in all those love songs. Now I get it!”

It’s a modern-day love story – what started as emails between co-workers living in different parts of the
country became more personal as Markus and Merry became pen pals and sounding boards for one
another. They both sensed a spark that was realized when they finally met in person. When Merry
transferred from Boeing’s Houston office to Seattle—where Markus was working, they both had the
same thought, “It was love at first sight.”

As their love story progressed, they decided to take the next big step and buy a home together. They
started working with a real estate professional and toured three homes in Tehaleh. They knew they’d
found the right place to make their home.

“…for the second time in our relationship, it was love at first sight!” Merry exclaimed.

Markus, Merry, and Markus’s two daughters blended their lives together in their new home. Since then,
their family has grown as they’ve added two more beautiful daughters. After deciding to take the next
step and get married, it was a no-brainer to hold the ceremony in Tehaleh at Seven Summits Lodge, a
private resort-inspired mountain lodge in the 55+ active adult neighborhood by Trilogy® at Tehaleh®. The
members-only club is also available to the public for events and weddings.

“It was important to us to have our wedding here—because this is the life we’re building,” said Markus.
“Tehaleh has been such a big part of our lives, all of our special moments have been here. To me, getting
married here helped cement that this is our home.”

The Kamps decided on getting married on a March day. The ceremony was small and personal—with
only eight people in the party. Being springtime in the Pacific Northwest, the weather was unpredictable
and the forecast predicted rain. As soon as the clouds parted, the wedding party ran out to the fountain
and exchanged vows. To the Kamps, the ceremony could not have been more perfect for celebrating
their love—and having the ceremony in Tehaleh made it even more significant.

“We’ve lived other places before but Tehaleh is the place our kids know as home,” said Markus. “And this
will be the backdrop to all of our special moments together.”
